Project 1: Paying it forward (Exploring the sense of environmental and community engagement as future designer)

In this project, our task is to form a group of 10, and identify environmental-community related issues in our local community. The issues have to be genuine and any solution provided by our team must have an impact to the environment and community.
My group members are Cheong Siew Leong, Tan Ming Long, Phang June Ee, Joshua Ting Sing Rong, Tan Wei How, Sharon Wong, Alex, William and Jonathan. Our selected issue is Neglected zones in the city.
For the Final Submission, we have to produce a proposal, an A2 poster, and a video. This is the most fun project in this semester. However, I am not satisfied with our final submission. This is because we faced a lot of problems such as we couldn’t find a neglected zone in the city, we couldn’t find any sponsorship, and some of the group members didn’t do their works and so on. Although we have discussed together and solved all the problems, our result of this project is disappointing.
From this project, I have learnt much knowledge. I am able to produce a complete documentation of the entire project from proposal to completion and a multimedia presentation on the issue and process taken to resolve the issue. Also, I am able to demonstrate problem-solving skills. In addition, I am able to recognize role and responsibility of an architect towards environment and society.
Thank you Miss Suja for helping us so much in this project.
Project 2: Nature & Us

This is our final project (group and individual). The final submission of this project is to produce a group essay and an individual reflective essay from our site visit.
My partner is Cheah Hoong Fei. Before working on this project, all of us went to Taman Negara, the largest Nature Park of Malaysia to collect the data and information in order to complete this final project.
Group Task
Cheah Hoong Fei and I choose the essay topic of Unified Nature. Frankly, we didn’t really understand what unified nature is until our tutor explained it and gave many examples for us. My partner and I did a lot of research from internet and books to help us in the group essay. We gave many our own ideas and suggestions in the essay rather than copy from the internet. I really learnt a lot of things from here.
Individual Task
This task is to write our own reflective essay after visit to Taman Negara. We have to recall back all the activities such as night jungle walk, jungle trekking and visit to Orang Asli village. For me, this visit increased my knowledge about nature and us. This is my first time visit to nature park and had a zero distance with the nature surrounding us. Thank you for giving me this chance to stay close with nature and I appreciate the memories I spent with everyone!
From this final project, I am able to recognize the effect of growth on the environment. Also, I am able to explore the concept of environmental and ecological sustainability. In addition, I am able to exemplify creativity in attempting to explore the current environmental circumstances. Furthermore, I am able to recognize role and responsibility of an architect towards environment and society.
