Project 1: Onsite Sketching
Onsite sketching is my first project of Design Communication. We were required to sketch two exterior sketches and 2 interior sketches. I decided to use different materials for this project, which is pencils, color pencils, water color, and art line pens. I spent a lot of time for every sketch, as this is my first time sketching onsite. However, I am satisfied with my final works. After the completion of this project, I understand the notion of space in architecture. Also, I am able to develop skills in visualizing of space through observation and perception of my site, which are Taylor’s University and my house. Besides that, I have learned the skills in sketching as a mode of communication.

Project 1B: 4 Tonal Values
This project is about using different techniques of hatching to produce four similar drawings. Firstly, we were required to choose an object for this project. Then, we have to take a picture of it, trace it and render it with different techniques. At the beginning, I chose a bracelet, but I was not able to draw out those details from the pictures although I have tried many times. Therefore, I chose to draw my teeth container. From this project, I understand the notion of space in architecture. Furthermore, I am able to develop skills in communicating the above in various tonal and depth values. Also, I have managed to develop various techniques of hatching through different medium.
Project 2A: Orthographic Projections
This is my first time using technical pens for drawings. From this project, we were required to produce the drawing in pencil at first, and ink it up for the final submission. The building assigned for us was Eames House, by Charles and Ray Eames. It is a really very nice building. We have to use standard appropriate architectural scale (1:100) for all drawings which are site plan, floor plans, elevations, and cross sections. Through this project, I am able to demonstrate drafting skills in modern and traditional methods of architectural drawing. Besides that, I have managed to record and present clear and legible architectural information manually. In addition, I have learnt how to I identify and apply architectural conventions and symbols through this project. Also, I am able to demonstrate in pencil and ink examples of line types, line weights, line quality and hand lettering.

Project 2B: Axonometric Projection
This is a continuous project from Project 2A. We were asked to refer our orthographic drawings and documents for measurements and information throughout this project. At the beginning, this was a tough project for me. It is because I have never learnt about axonometric projection and I have no confidence to explore a nice axonometric drawing. However, I was able to complete it on time. I have managed to express spatial ideas and architectural detail in three-dimension, in the format of an axonometric projection. Furthermore, I understand of what axonometric projections are, how to generate them and how to apply them to the design process and presentation. Also, I am able to produce legible architectural drawings through this project.

Project 2C: Perspectives
This project introduces perspective as a mode of communication in architecture. We were required to produce one exterior perspective and one interior perspective. There are two types of perspective drawings which are two-point perspective and one-point sectional perspective. From this project, I am able to consider where to place my picture plane, viewing angle and stationary point in both drawings. In addition, I have managed to express spatial ideas and architectural detail in 3D, in the format of one-point and two-point perspectives. Furthermore, I understand of what perspectives are, how to produce them and how to relate them to the design process and presentation. Moreover, I am able to produce legible architectural drawings with strong creative intent.
