Project 1: Self-Expression through Object
REPRESENTING ME
This is my first individual project of Architecture Design Studio 1. It is an ice-breaking design project, but we were free to select any mode of communication to represent ourselves, meaning that this can take form as a piece of artwork or a performance. Initially, I chose to produce a collage to represent myself. However, the suggestions from my tutor, Mr. Fadzlee made me change my decision. It is because it will be a boring presentation as there is no any interaction with my audiences if I just show a collage and talk. Therefore, I decided to produce a crayon scratch drawing to represent me and my childhood on the presentation day. I am not satisfied with my performance as I was nervous and had no confidence to talk in front of lecturers and students. However, I am able to identify and abstract ideas of the “self” through this project. I am able to produce an artwork which has a story behind it. Besides that, I have also managed to construct a representational piece of art based on the ideas that have been abstracted and redefined through the process of translation and interpretation. Overall, this is an interesting project and I love it.

Project 2: Self-Expression through Architectural Space
ME IN SPACE
This is a continuous project from Project 1, but it is a group project. Our final submission is to build a 1:1 scaled installation to express or represent ourselves by using cardboards. Also, we have to consider about the relationship between the body and the space. Firstly, we were all divided in to group of 3. I was super lucky to have Imran and Adnan as my group mates. Then we were asked to build a study model individually to represent ourselves, for example, our characteristics, personalities, and stories. After that, we have to combine our characteristics and all that with our group mates to build a new model to represent 3 of us. We had a tough time as we faced many problems while building the 1:1 scaled installation. However, every problem was solved smoothly after a lot of discussions. After the completion of this project, I am able to identify and articulate basic design principles in spatial organization. Furthermore, I have managed to differentiate and distinguish the role of scale and proportion in the relationship between the human body and a designed space or enclosure. Also, I am able to design and produce a space that represents and expresses an idea or conceptual narrative. Of course, I have to thank Imran and Adnan for their co-operation and helping me a lot all the way.

Project 3: Space for the Self
MY CITY DREAMSPACE
This is our final project, a group and individual project. For this project, we were divided into group of 5. My group mates are Imran, Ivanka, Aimi and Alvin. At the end of the project is to design a dream space for our own new character of a given movie and attach it to our imagined “city” of that movie. Also, we have to produce all orthographic drawings with rendered of that site model. However, we could not complete our drawing as we spent too much time on our site model. At the beginning, I was lost, as I had no any idea of the dream space and I did not know where to start. The rejection of my first design made me depressed too. Luckily, my tutor and my friends gave me a lot of opinions and finally I am happy to see my final model standing on the site model. After presenting to the architects, I know all the sacrifices worth it. But still, I have to improve my presentation skills and learn how to arrange my spaces to make a better circulation in my design. I have gained knowledge through this final project. I am able to design and produce a space that embodies and expresses an idea or conceptual narrative. Also, I am able to distinguish and discern the role of scale and proportion in the relationship between the human body and a designed space or enclosure. Besides that, I have managed to identify, articulate and apply basic design principles in spatial organization and relationships. In addition, I am able to select and apply materials to embody and enhance then sensory experience of the space. Furthermore, I have managed to create, articulate and illustrate the poetics of spatial quality.

Overall, this is my favorite in my semester 1. Once again, thank you my tutor, Mr. Fadzlee. Thank you so much =D!
